HOBBY FUN FOR EVERYONE-Is the NEXT SHOW I will be participating in

The next show at the Jazz Gallery is all about crafts so I am planning to mix my newest love of making jewelry with that of craft making...and little macaroni noodles. Stay tuned for photos of the artworks I will be entering for judging in the show on November 7th.

Here is the flyer that was prepared by Shana (she is on the gallery committee) and she does a great job!

Latest Update

So I realized it takes a lot of effort to keep up with the many online social blogger, flickr, facebook etc. but here I am :) to give you the latest update!

I have joined the Gallery Committee with the River Artist Association and attended my first meeting. I met one other person, Daryl, who I hope to learn much about hanging art from...he is very technical and one goal I have is to be able to hang art with confidence and be self assured that it looks great once completed.

Others there were Shana, Sue and Mark (which I had previously met. We brainstormed ideas and I scribbled mad notes into my sketchbook trying to keep up. This group is great and came up with ideas for shows all the way through the year. Just wait and see what is in store.

I missed helping to take down the P.S. Exhibit because they did that on the day of my b-day and I already had lots of stuff planned for that day.

So the current show up at the Jazz Gallery is the Riverwest Artist Assoc. All Members Show which we set up last Friday and then opened on Saturday. They accepted pretty much 1-2 artworks from everyone but since there was extra space I was able to have 3 pieces. I am very thankful. Here are the ones in this show:

"Eyes" 7"x14" acrylic on canvas

"Sunset" 12"x16" oil and acrylic on canvas

"GN X" 4'x4' mixed media

This also coincided with RAA Artwalk. This is a walking tour of artist studios and homes in the Riverwest neighborhood. Since I do not live in the neighborhood and did not know anyone that I could display work with I decided to just sit back and watch and rather volunteer to see how all the wheels spin this year.

I was able to help cut labels (which can be very mind boggling...darn those straight lines!) I also helped pass out artist packets which was fun because I got to meet new artist and see lots of new shops and galleries in the area.

And on a side note I had the best sub (called Spagettini and Fuel Cafe) and yes it was filled with spaghetti and meatballs....it was delicious.

So I also got an email back from Emily (she is setting up for the Nov show at the Adonai Arts Center) and she wants my other artwork "Music of Life" in the show as well. Here are the pieces of mine she selected:

"Angry" 16x20 mixed media on canvas

"Singing in the Fields" 2'x4' mixed media on masonite

Over the past month or so I had joined the Milwaukee Arts & Crafts Meetup and have only been able to attend one meeting but hope to join them again in the near future once I get all my ducks in a row with the projects they are working on. I am very happy for them that they found a meeting place.

Also as I was helping Darlene cut labels I learned that she was one of the original founders of MARN (Milwaukee Artist resource Network) and I have been a member of this group for years just have not had much time to dedicate to doing anything with these opportunities...until now.

I found my passcode and logged on and wah-lah! There is a fantastic page all set up for me to display art and tell all about myself. So I will be working on that and sending the link to you all as soon as it is live.

In addition to that we got to talking about Book Arts and she mentioned a class that happens once a month and all these artist of different levels gather together and do book art and she invited me to join. I am very excited and will report how this goes after the meeting.

Happy Saturday

The P.S. Exhibit turned out great and it will continue to go through Friday 9/25th. Please stop by and check it out.

The next show is be the Riverwest Asrtist All members show and I will have a couple pieces in that show. I am so excited and can not wait to meet a lot of new artist.

I recently joined Milwaukee Metro Area Arts & Crafts Meetup. Our first project is going to be a coloborative book and I finally thought of my idea. I will be doing fashion and inspiration from fashion magazines. I just love fashion and I know this will be a fantastic outlet. Stay tuned for my first page.
